Up and running in minutes — here's how it all fits together.
Grab the installer from the download link, run it, and Charactry sets itself up. No account needed, no sign-in — just install and go. On first launch you'll land on an empty character grid ready to fill.
Hit the + New Character button, give them a name, and start filling in their profile. Add an avatar, a banner, tags, traits, backstory — as much or as little as you want. Characters save automatically.
Head to the Universes section and create your worlds. Give each one a name, color, and description. Then assign characters to universes, or create AU variants of existing characters with their own separate data. Perfect for separating your main cast from your AUs.
Once you've purchased PLUS, you'll receive a valid_hashes.js file. Go to Settings → Charactry PLUS and import it. Verification happens locally — no internet required. PLUS features unlock instantly: advanced plugins, rarity borders, AI features, timeline events, and more.
Charactry supports built-in and user-made plugins — installable extensions that slot directly into the sidebar. Free plugins are available to everyone; PLUS plugins unlock with your activation file. Community-made plugins are welcome too — see the rules below.
